Srinagar, Aug 16 (KNO): The government Wednesday admitted that the public educational institutes at elementary level of Jammu and Kashmir were ‘lacking the physical infrastructure’. According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Principal Secretary, School Education Department Alok Kumar said this on the sidelines of an interactive conference pertaining to the upcoming third national conference of chief secretaries. “We are preparing to participate in that National Conference which will be attended by Chief Secretaries of all the states,” he said. Kumar said, “We had called the stakeholders of education here to find out their views about the changes which they think should be made for the ease of living.” About Artificial Intelligence, the principal secretary said that the School Education Department had already introduced AI ‘in the sense when everything is being digitized.’ Responding to the queries of infrastructural issues in elementary level schools, Kumar said, “We need both physical and human infrastructure. Of course we are lacking the physical infrastructure in some government schools because of many factors.” “However, we are trying to improve the human infrastructure which essentially means the quality of the teachers and quality of education,” he said. Kumar further said that it will take some time to develop physical infrastructure. “We are in the process of improving the physical infrastructure but we are devoting our much time and resources on improving the skills of the teachers who would ultimately impart the education.”—(KNO)
